I know, I know another posting on knowing ourselves, but I promise this will be the last one. It's just that I have a whole bunch of scripture passages left over that are too good to let fall by the wayside. So, here are some miscellaneous scripture passages that I believe to be helpful. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. - Romans 12:2 Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. - 2 Corinthians 3:4-5 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. - Romans 5:3-4 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. -Galatians 5:24 Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. - Ephesians 6:11-12 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. - Philippians 4:8 There are several important principles that can be drawn from these passages. 1. Our self perspective is in our mind; therefore, we need to be aware of what we are thinking about and we need to partner with God in the renewing of our minds. 2. Life isn't easy. Pretty much daily, a lot of "stuff" comes our way that can knock us around and . God knows that, but He also uses it to transform us. 3. There is a spiritual battle raging and a spiritual battle requires spiritual weapons. All the good thoughts and right actions alone will not protect us, or transform us, if we are not paying attention to the spiritual challenges around us.
